RLEP supports the BLUE RIDGE PRISM which received a significant award for eradication of certain invasive plant species throughout the region.  Sam Quinn of the RLEP Board is deeply involved with the PRISM.

One key to this program will also be replanting with Native Species, so we urge all to pay attention to Native Plant replacement. Sam is the resident biologist at Sunnyside Farm and knows plenty about the removal of invasive plant species and the creation of native plant meadows, bogs and hedgerows.  Meadows provide an ecosystem for pollinators and small mammals, plus they are stunningly beautiful.  Bogs create habitat for salamanders and other endangered species.  Hedgerows provide cover and food for native birds. MORE TO COME.
