The Jordan River Trail offers a great example of lush ecosystems: riverine, seeps and cove forest. In late May, the botanical splendor is amazing.
The views are spectacular, and you’ll also see a wonderful example of the value of conservation easements and the on-going rewards of proactive land management. The grass meadow provides wonderful habitat for native pollinators.
You’ll visit a cattle operation of over 1,000 acres with 100-200 brood cows. Here’s an opportunity to understand the complex, dynamic and demanding “applied ecology” of running a cattle farm.
The Sperryville Community Alliance conceived the Sperryville Trail project in 2018, and it is already a showcase of community cooperation. You’ll learn about the long range plan for combatting invasive plants and encouraging natives!
